Establishing a positive, proactive school-wide behaviour management practice is necessary for enabling schools to achieve the educational goals of all students. Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) supports the development of an approach based on the underlying principles of decision making guided by data, the establishment of effective school wide routines and consistent responding to behaviour, both positive and negative.
PBS is a research-based process that is proven to create safer and more effective schools. PBS relies on organisational change strategies to improve the social culture, learning and teaching environment in schools, and to provide the individual behaviour supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.
At Bicton Primary School we implement PBS and build on existing strengths, programs and strategies. We have a values-based approach and make sure that through our Student, Staff and Parent Matrix that our behaviour and expectations as a whole school community are visible.
Our focus as a school community is to continue to ensure our staff, students, parents and wider community have positive interactions, behaviours, expectations and experiences at Bicton Primary School.
